The new therapy uses laparoscopic surgery to insert a device into the abdomen, just beneath the skin. It essentially acts as a pacemaker for hunger, helping patients feel full.
After the device is implanted, patients are required to wear a belt beneath their clothes all day. The belt keeps the device activated and monitors progress.
